Overview
The nano.org project aims to provide the scientific community with a facility for the rapid dissemination and discussion of research in nanotechnology and related fields. That's our mission statement. Although the site has many areas to explore, including News, Jobs, Public Discussion Forums and so on, the heart of the site is the Articles section. In this section we provide our three main features:

  1. Open scientific discussion of the latest nanoscience research.

  2. An open archive where authors can deposit their papers, which may be in review elsewhere.

  3. A community review process, called open peer review, to which authors may submit their work. This feature is not available during the current beta test of nano.org.

These three aspects are highly integrated so that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. We've taken an "embrace and extend" attitude in designing the functionality for nano.org - we looked at the relevant existing mechanisms on the internet, and tried to include their strengths while adding enhancements to overcome common drawbacks.

The following pages provide a full overview of each key aspect: scientific discussion, article hosting, open peer review.
